There may possibly be as many as six of 22 schools up for closure after a review this year. After evaluating low registration numbers compared to school’s capacity, the Ottawa Carleton District School Board has decided to review the schools and their attendance versus capacity levels.
The following are schools in the west-end that will be considered in the review:
Elementary schools: Century, Sir Winston Churchill, Meadowlands, Carleton Heights, Leslie Park, Briargreen, Knoxdale, Greenbank, Manordale, Grant Alternative, Churchill Alternative, Bells Corners, Lakeview, Bayshore, D.A. Moodie, Agincourt, J.H. Putman, D. Roy Kennedy, Pinecrest, Regina Street, Severn, Woodroffe
Secondary schools:
Merivale, Sir Robert Borden, Bell, Woodroffe
There will continue to be reviews of schools over the next five years in the hopes that capacity versus registration will be righted.
