We had another very successful evening with Grace in the Kitchen and Serious Cheese last night with our Discovering Ottawa group. It was a perfect day for a private shopping event as it was the first snowfall and I think it gave everyone some holiday spirit.
We served wine and sparkling water while our guests were treated to delicious food and samples provided by the store. Sara Pishva, chef and owner of Top Shelf Preserves was there serving samples of her unbelievable pickles and chutneys. And I do mean…UNBELIEVABLE. She had pickled beets (to die for), pickled beans, pickled carrots (I’m planning on eating my whole jar tonight) and pickled scapes (delish…Sara suggests putting them in a caesar…okay!). There was also Serious Cheese’s Cornish blue cheese paired with Sara’s rhubarb chutney which is making my mouth water now as well as a lovely red pepper jelly with Serious Cheese’s triple creme brie. Top Shelf Preserves uses local produce and offer a wide variety of product. I want those pickled carrots now!
Serious Cheese and Grace in the Kitchen were serving up some deliciousness as well. There was a creamy fondue with apples and a charcuterie board that made people swoon with numerous cheeses, crackers, salami and their in-house, famous cheese….the truffle brie!
