Happy New Year! This is our first Free, or Almost Free, Friday for 2017. We are really looking forward to letting you know all about the free events our City has to offer this year as well as participate in a lot of them ourselves as well. Wishing you the best in 2017!

Christmas Lights Across Canada – Tomorrow night is the last night that downtown Ottawa and Parliament Hill will be illuminated with their beautiful Christmas lights for the 2016 festival. If you haven’t had a chance to see these yet make sure to bundle up and head downtown to see them before they go out until next Christmas.

Alight at Night – This is also the last weekend to head to Morrisburg to see millions of Christmas lights sparkle for the last time this season. This historic Upper Canada Village is a short drive from Ottawa and worth the trip.

Winter Frolic – Running until Sunday, this is the last weekend for the Canadian Museum of Agriculture’s Winter Frolic. This event is free with museum admission (view the affordable admission prices here)  and is a fun filled event for the whole family. Enjoy baking lessons and treats, play with vintage toys and try your hand at some authentic crafts from other cultures.

Winter Takes Flight – Another exhibition that will be wrapping up on Sunday is the Winter Takes Flight at the Canadian Aviation Museum. Free with museum admission (view those prices here), children will be able to earn their wings on an obstacle course, participate in a scavenger hunt, learn about the history of aviation and more.
