Our Tasting Ottawa group has booked another event and we are VERY excited!

Chef Michael Blackie has invited us to enjoy a 5 course tasting menu at his very first “Pop-Over Restaurant”, atJuniper Kitchen & Wine Bar in Westboro. This is the ultimate “foodie” experience and is sure to be delicious! Chef Blackie has worked and studied all over the globe and is renowned for his creative and delicious food.

Pop-Over restaurants have become the “in” thing this past year with a chef sharing a restaurant’s kitchen and dining room with another chef. We saw Chef Matt Carmichael host Ottawa’s first pop-over at Mello’s restaurant this past summer. Several pop over bars were hosted along the canal. And NOW………. Clients & supporters of Carole Evans are among the lucky ones to be invited to dine with Chef Blackie in this, his first Pop-Up dinner in Ottawa.


Born in Leicestershire, England, and raised in Montreal, Michael Blackie has been cooking for almost 25 years on three continents. Over the past decade, he’s worked at some of the world’s finest hotelsincluding the Fairmont Pierre Marques (Mexico) and the Oberoi (Bali), an exclusive five-star facility voted the world’s best boutique resort by Leading Hotels of the World (2002) and listed on Condé Nast’s “hot list”.

Among his many career highlights, Chef Blackie held executive sous chef and acting chef positions at the prestigious and world-renowned Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong. Most recently, he was executive chef at Perspectives, the restaurant at Ottawa’s Brookstreet Hotel. After just three months under his leadership, Perspectives was awarded the prestigious four diamond rating from CAA.

In 2009 he took over the leadership of Le Cafe at the NAC. He recently announced his departure from the NAC to focus on plans to expand his own business, known as MB cuisine, and also plans to further his work on television.

The event will take place Monday November 19 at 6:30 pm at Juniper Kitchen & Wine Bar located at 245 Richmond Road in Westboro. It promises to be an amazing evening of delicious food and wine and great conversation!
